Europa Point Sports Complex, Gibraltar – March 29, 2025
FCB Magpies etched their name into Gibraltarian football history once again with a 3-1 victory over Lions Gibraltar in the 2025 Rock Cup Final. In front of a vibrant crowd at the Europa Sports Complex, the Magpies delivered a clinical 20min performance in the first half that was enough to clinch the prestigious trophy, cementing their status once again as one of the rising forces in local football.
From the first whistle, FCB Magpies asserted control, showcasing their attacking prowess and tactical discipline. The breakthrough came in the first half when Juan Arguez Ruiz capitalised on a defensive error to slot home the opening goal, sending the Magpies fans into raptures.
A second goal this time from Julian Del Rio following a flowing team move, put the Magpies firmly in the driver’s seat.
Shortly before half-time, Patrick Dullek slotted past Christian Lopez in the Magpies net after great play by Samuel Awoyale to make it 2-1 at the half-time break.
Lions Gibraltar, despite their spirited efforts, struggled to find rhythm against the Magpies’ high press and quick transitions. A third goal came for the Magpies in injury time as Dylan Borge burst through the defence to round Lions Goalkeeper Perez to score, which effectively sealed the result for the Magpies.
Magpies manager Terrence Jolley praised his team's performance: “I’m incredibly proud of the lads. They played with heart, discipline, and flair—everything you need to win a final. This trophy means a lot to the club and our supporters.”
This triumph marks a significant achievement for the Magpies, adding silverware to their cabinet and securing qualification for European competition next season. For Lions Gibraltar, it was a tough outing, but they’ll look to regroup and come back stronger next year.
This Rock Cup Final win will go down as a landmark moment in the club’s journey—a testament to their growth, ambition, and unity on and off the pitch.
