FC Magpies 3–2 College 1975
Damian Van Dijk struck deep into injury time as FC Magpies secured a dramatic 3–2 victory over College 1975, maintaining their unbeaten start to the season and keeping their place at the top of the Gibraltar Football League going into the international break.
Magpies were made to work for all three points against a determined College 1975 side, who twice took the lead against the run of play and proved stubborn opposition throughout the contest.
Despite controlling large periods of the opening half, Magpies were wasteful with a number of clear-cut opportunities and were punished when College took the lead.
The response eventually came through Dalton, who found the equaliser to ensure the sides went into the interval level at 1–1.
Magpies continued to push forward after the restart, but College once again stunned the league leaders by retaking the lead, leaving the hosts chasing the game for a second time.
The second equaliser was well worth the wait. A superb passage of intricate one-touch football involving Samu Benítez and Kyle Clinton opened up the College defence before Julian Del Rio applied the finish to make it 2–2.
With time running out, Magpies threw everything forward in search of the winner, refusing to settle for a point.
Their persistence was finally rewarded deep into injury time.
Damian Van Dijk emerged as the hero, finding the back of the net with a dramatic late winner to complete the comeback and spark celebrations as Magpies secured all three points with a 3–2 victory.
It was a hard-earned win on an evening when Magpies were forced to show patience, character and resilience against a College side who made life difficult from the opening whistle.
Most importantly, the victory maintains FC Magpies’ unbeaten record and keeps the club top of the league heading into the international break, continuing an excellent start to the 2026/27 campaign.
