FC Magpies secured their first silverware of the season after winning the inaugural Javier Chacón Trophy, overcoming Cádiz CF Juvenil and hosts AD Taraguilla in a competitive triangular tournament.
The pre-season tournament featured FC Magpies, AD Taraguilla and Cádiz CF Juvenil, with each fixture played over 45 minutes and providing all three sides with another valuable opportunity to build fitness and sharpness ahead of the new campaign.
The opening match saw Cádiz CF Juvenil defeat AD Taraguilla 1-0, giving the Cádiz youngsters the perfect start to the tournament.
FC Magpies then entered the action against Cádiz CF Juvenil in the second fixture. Cádiz struck first to take the lead, but the Magpies responded well and found their equaliser through Daniil Hagiu, who scored his first goal for the club after being set up by Dalton.
With the score level at 1-1 at full-time, the match was decided from the penalty spot.
Goalkeeper Michael Kulas proved to be the hero, producing two penalty saves, while Lee Chipolina and Han Stevens converted their spot kicks to secure the victory for the Magpies.
That result set up a decisive final encounter against hosts AD Taraguilla, with FC Magpies knowing another victory would see them lift the inaugural trophy.
The contest remained tight throughout the 45 minutes, with both sides competing strongly and chances at a premium. As the clock ticked towards full-time, it was Han Stevens who delivered the decisive moment.
A late goal from Stevens secured a 1-0 victory over AD Taraguilla, ensuring FC Magpies finished the tournament on top and became the first winners of the Javier Chacón Trophy.
The victory represents FC Magpies' first silverware of the season and provides another positive step in the team's preparations ahead of the start of the 2026/27 Gibraltar Football League campaign.
With valuable minutes in the legs, a first Magpies goal for Daniil Hagiu, an impressive penalty shootout performance from Michael Kulas and two decisive contributions from Han Stevens, it proved to be a productive evening for the Black and Whites.
